In the summer of 2018, I (Whitney) was listening to a podcast where a pastor said that if we as the body of Christ want abortion to be to ended, we need to be the solution for the millions of orphan babies that would be born. This thought convicted me in the deepest way, all the while terrifying me to my core. I had never wanted to or thought I could possibly adopt. You have to be a certain kind of person to do that. I just didn't have it in me.
I told Paul of my feelings and he, not remotely phased, told me that he'd always thought that adoption would be really cool. We had been married 10 years, together over 12 years and that was the first time I'd heard his heart on adoption. It took me by surprise, but it was comforting to hear his heart.
After that, we waited and prayed. For over 3 years we waited and prayed, waited and prayed. All the while, we went through some major changes in our life. I left my job to become a stay-at-home mom, the Lord led us to a new church home, prepared me to homeschool, and taught me so much of what it looks like to parent in a Kingdom manner. The list could go on and on.
But in August 2021, Yahweh gave us confirmation after confirmation that it was time for us to start the adoption process. And here we are.
We're beyond excited to see how Yahweh is going to grow us through this experience and how we can glorify Him. We so desperately want to carry out the gospel. In John 14:18 Jesus said:
“I promise that I will never leave you helpless or abandon you as orphans—I will come back to you!"
We believe this is our calling. The Bible over and over again says that we are to be like Jesus. Here’s just a few verses that call us to be like Him:
"Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God." -Ephesians 5:1-2
"Whoever says he abides in Him ought to walk in the same way in which He walked." -1 John 2:6
We are so grateful for each and everyone one of you who supports us in whatever capacity that may be. We truly couldn’t do any of this without your support.
